Perhaps this is the lower gear ratio that is rumored for the U.S. S4 in 2001. I thought the S4 & RS4 had the same gear ratios.

I also found it interesting that the Cd for the RS4 is 0.34 -- it is only 0.31 for the S4 (per similar tech spec sheet for the S4) -- I guess wider tires and Avant form really hurt aerodynamics.
