Today was the "big" day for taking delivery of my new S4. The dealer had the car stored in the service dept. (out of sight and away from greasy fingers). 2 people wanted to buy it as I was going over the fine details with the delivery person. I was tempted to start a bidding war then and there but decided I had a "keeper" on my hands and there was no turning back after waiting 5 months for this day.

The car was beautifully prepped and with a full tank of gas I was all set to start back on my 170 mile journey home. My daughter and I took turns driving back.... first half for me second half for her. She is the only one I would dare trust to drive this car. Trip home was uneventfull except for a few rain showers enroute. Stopped for gas for the other car and 2 girls walked all the way across the parking lot to get a closer look at the S4. After 2 360s around the car they said something to the effect of....."SOB, what a nice car". Too bad my daughter was with me. Just kidding.

Almost forgot the best part. Price of car.

MSRP = $39,625
-$4,177 Check from CarsDirect
$35,448 net cost to me plus taxes,fees etc. $38,3xx out the door.

The price includes delivery and Convenience package (only extra on the car)

To get their name out there, they were having this big promotion. A coworker purchased a 540IS for invoice through them.

Needless to say the deal didn't last long, but since they obviously couldn't get the cars that cheap, Cars Direct paid the difference between the sales price and invoice for you.

This guy is one of the lucky ones that got the invoice price.

Del is correct. I "locked in" my deal 4/29/99 and they honored the deal 5 months later

But I looked on CarsDirect and they don't even offer the S4?? (no 2000 audi's in there listing)
