Nice compliment from a Mustang GT tonight
So tonight I'm sitting next to a BMW X5 3.0 with a middle-aged couple in it at a red light. I do my usual not-too-hard-but-faster-than-everyone-else takeoff from the light, which for whatever reason, dad in the X5 decides is an invitation to race. He guns it and pulls up even to me. So of course, I mash it and all of a sudden, he's way back there.
Next light, the X5 pulls up next to me again and doesn't even look at me. And his lady was giving him "the look" :-). Then from a few cars back, I hear:
"Hey Audi, run that sheeeiiittt again man!! Audi, you hear me? Run that sheeeiittt again!!!"
So, not wanting to disappoint my newly acquired fan base, I rev it up and launch with a nice little chirp. The X5 has decided he's had enough, but my new friend comes up behind me and pulls in next me at the next light. Its a Mustang GT with a couple of 20-something guys in it.
Him: "Dayum man, thats some nice sheeeiiittt"
Me: "Thanks man, nice car you got to" (ok, I lied)
Him: "What, you got 17s on there?" (referring to my *stock* S4 wheels)
Me: "Yup"
Him: "Dayum thats sweet"
Me: "So you wanna run?"
Him: "Nah... I don't race, becides you'd kick my ***"
I this point, I'm pretty much busting up inside, knowing that if he wanted to, he could probably kick my *** (I'm still stock)
Anyways, he continues to compliment the car, light turns green, we bid each other farewell, and we go our separate ways.
I just love it when people actually recognize the car for what it is and don't mistake it for a Honda.
Made my night.

SVT Cobra's aren't even a real worry, with my set up, though I did lose once to a built lightning...
I run at Union Grove (Great Lakes Dragaway) drag strip all teh time, and I have never lost to a stock or slightly modded SVT Cobra, including the honest HP'd 2001's. Lightning's hook up much better, and are a better challenge, but are ususally beaten. Problem is, I have run into a few modded lightnings that are really fast. Also, lightnings are really inconsistent stock, and this is a known problem. Some are 13.5 runners, others 14.3, all with the same driver.
Stangs are beaten off the line, and do not have enough HP (even teh SVT's) to make up 3-5 lengths to 100mph. I race a buddy of mines 96 Cobra SVT that is supercharged (450hp), and I pull him out of the hole onhis grad slicks, and he doesn't catch me until 3/4's of the way down the track. He runs 11.80's at 116mph, and I kill him in the 1/8th mile and further, but he flies by me doing 15mph more than I am about 200 feet from the end of the strip.
My best run is a 13.43 at 106mph, and I run an APR chip (non-race mode), Scorpion exhaust, baileys, S-flo and ads. Also run R-28's with 235/45-17's.
Stock, a well driven S4 will beat even the new mustangs (except the Cobra SVT's) from 0-80, wheere most street races occur, if launched correctly.
