Default NOOBIE -- needing some help with my 6-CD CHANGER

Anyone out there with any thoughts with respect to CD changer problems. I have a 2001.5 S4 with the bose package and trunk placed 6-CD changer. Well, a few months ago a fuse blew that was fixed by the dealer in San Antonio. Well this fixed the initial problem of having ANY music, however now the CD changer doesn't work. I brought the car back to the dealer who said this was a pre-existing problem and it would cost a few hundred dollars to diagnose/fix. Seems a little too coincidental because the changer worked prior to the fuse blowing. Thoughts? Recommendations?

Might be a fuse in the back of the changer, not sure.

Don't you think the shop would have identified this when they checked?
thanks for your thoughts

Not if it was a dealership. They would rather charge you a $200 fee to "diagnose" the problem.

Default you might have an internal short in your cd changer. I had that problem with mine.

It caused the fuse to blow on the back of the radio. Replacing the fuse only temporarily fixed the problem, as it blew again shortly thereafter. The dealership finally traced the problem to the CD changer. I now have a phatbox there which is much better anyway.

when that fuse blows, the radio doesn't work at all. And vag-com can't connect.

Default So you replaced the changer all-together?

So are you saying that it would be best to get a new CD changer? Or a fuse for the CD changer. How long did it take before you had the same problem with the receiver?
