NorCal Clearbra install Sept 29,30, need a few more..
Just talked with Dan@ClearBra. They are going to come down to San Jose Sept 29-30, same location as last time, but they are looking for a few more cars.
If you have ClearBra and would like a tune-up, mark your calandar.
If you are interested in having your car done, please let me know.
Thanks<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/487870.phtml">More Info...</a></li></ul>

Re: Clearbra vs. Stongard - Pros/Cons?
Stongard is pre-cut a bit smaller than the body panel, so the edges are visible on the protected panel. ClearBra is custom wrapped onto your car and the edges are around the edge of the body panel down in the gap. Stongard is urethane, which is waterproof, which is bad in this case. You want the paint to be able to breathe and outgas. ClearBra is vinyl, which breathes. It's hardened on top and squishy below. The squishy stuff can give under impact from bigger stones for more protection. It's thicker, too.
ClearBra is more expensive. The whole nose of a car costs $1000. It also works real well. I've had it on my car for 6 months and you can't see it unless you know what to look for. It's done it's job lots of times and my car has *no* new chips in the paint since I got it. It makes me *much* less paranoid about parallel parking, since i got the back bumper done, too.
It's strange that you find lots of people stoked about an expensive mod that you can't even see. I'm one of them. I expect to keep my pearl Avant for 10 years and want to keep it looking good.

Actually, the 3M material which x-pel uses does breathe also ...
as evidenced by a few sizeable air and water bubbles that I had after I did my install which completely evaporated through the material within a couple of weeks. If Stone Guard uses the same material, then it should also have the same properties.

Is Stongard really cut smaller than panel? That's not what their site says.
I compared the players (web sites only, no first hand experience) and have pretty much decided to go with Stongard. One of the reasons was the statement on their web site that
"You can rest assured that StonGard kits have a 1/4" wrap on leading edges wherever needed and can be installed without disassembling the vehicle. "
It seemed that xpel was a little cheaper but apparently does not wrap around as much as Stongard claims and does not come with the door handle pocket and door edge pieces.
I realize that any custom fit pieces have the potential to wrap more than a pre-cut piece, but Stongard claims to wrap around edges sufficiently for my needs. I also intend to keep my car for quite a while, but for my needs I don't really see any value added by wrapping the whole front of the car for twice the cost. My A4 really didn't have any chips beyond the area that Stongard covers.
FYI, Stongard and xpel use the same 3M Scotchcal urethane material.
