Default O2 sensor: Internal resistance too high? what's this mean?

I've had the check engine light come on a few times in the past 1500 miles.. I scanned it with my vag-com both times its been the same code, something about Oxygen sensor internal resistance too high blah blah.. is my sensor going bad or is it something else possibly?

thanks

Could be a bad sensor if it is B1S1(bank 1 sensor 1) or B2S1. If it is B1S2 or B2S2 it could be your catalytic conv.

For an inexpensive replacement search the archives for VW Oxygen sensor. There is a part number for an 02 sensor that you can splice into your harness for around $28 vs. $149 for the original harness. The VW part is the identical Bosch number to the B1S1 and B2S1 sensor, the only difference is the harness.

Check to see if you have a broken wire in the sensor harness

Default heater?

I believe the oxygen sensors have heaters that get them up to operating temp faster. Maybe the code means the heater windings are shorted? Either way the sensor is most likely going bad. I plan on replacing the primary sensors with the VW units while the engine is apart.
