Default Oil changes every 8K miles?

Got my first change around 8K miles. Now I'm approaching 12K, and called the dealer to schedule a change and he said Audi only pays for changes every 6 months or 8K miles under warranty, and that is what they recommend.... Would anyone wait 8K miles to change their oil?? Then he wanted to charge me $52! What a jip!

They wanted you to pay for it? You live in the States, right? My dealer told me all scheduled maintenance for the first 3 years or 50,000 miles was free. First check the terms of your warranty papers, then call Audi of America if the dealer insists on charging you for it. Maintenance should be free.

Who's this dealer of yours?<p>-- Fez (one of many?!)

Default I change it myself, at 3k-4k intervals. (depending on visual inspection of oil)
