Default Oil Leak

2000 S4, 34,000 miles. First oil leak at 11,000 miles, rear crankshaft seal replaced. Recently may have put in 3/4 to 1 quart too much oil after checking level cold. Could 3/4 to 1 quart too much oil cause it to leak out on to the plastic shroud, and then the floor? Hate to think I need another crankshaft seal replaced.
Thanks,
Frustrated S4 Driver

Default Mine has 11K and I'm pretty sure I have "3 !" oil leaks?

Turbo oil return line
Valve cover or engine block plug
Rear main seal.

Consider yourself lucky. I don't have a warranty.

Default Get them to check your "upper" oil pan gasket. These have been problematic

from what I have read.

Ask them to do this first vs doing a RMB seal that requires 8+ hrs to service and may not ressolve. Both problems have the same indications.

Been there, done that... many times.

Default Theft recovery with rebuilt salvage title. Audi washes their hands....

I'm not sure how or why they can void the entire warranty just because a car is stolen... but they can.

I was told by the guy I bought it from that it was missing the front clip (hood, fenders, bumper, etc.) but was undamaged. I have my doubts.

Default What are the symptoms of your 2nd leak ("Valve cover or engine block plug ")

The reason I ask is b/c if it is apparent on the front left part of your engine (just behind the left BPV), then it might be a f-hose tear.

At least, that is what mine was like. It sprayed a thin grimy oil residue all over the intake manifold, the left BPV, and on the underside of the engine covers. A big mess and the dealer didn't know what it was. A fellow AW'er (TheR) told me he had the same problem and it was an f-hose tear. The tear also contributed to boost leak (~2 psi).

Good luck!

I found a little corn starch will thicken it right up.

Default I'll have to check up top. I only noticed it on the left underside of the block.

there is a little plastic cover on the left side of the block held on by 1 bolt. It appears to be leaking there, but the oil might be dripping around the cover - coming from up higher.

Thanks for the tip.
