Oil level
I just had my oil changed by the dealership. I gave them 7 qts of mobile 1 5W30 and they gave me one quart back with about an 1/8th of oil. So I figured they put the correct amount of oil in (6.9 qts).
I just checked my oil when the engine was cold and it seemed that is was way above the do not overfill line. However, I checked the oil after running the car for about an hour and it seems fine.
I though a cold engine would show less oil given that heat usually expands liquids. Is this normal? If so, why is it that the hotter the engine the less oil seems to show on the dip stick?

Nah
cold engine (as in, in the morning) will read higher, since the oil is all collected in the pan. Best to start it and run it for a couple minutes first, to get the oil circulated and distributed throughout the engine.
