OK, going crazy over this possible coolant problem....My car is on the left/
As you can see my color is a little darker, after ~ 15 min it turns pink like in the right. Both cars were hot btw. Another thing I have been noticing is that when I shut off my engine, about 5 min after my temp goes 1 tick after half when I start it back up it resumes normal operating temp. To add to this I never here my sec coolant pump (replaced under warranty 1 year ago) or my sec fan...ever... what a pain in the A$$

Three things going on there.
1) The afterun coolant pump not coming on is perfectly normal unless you replaced the thermoswitch with a lower temp one. STFA
2) The temp going higher after shutting off the car is perfectly normal. Think about it...you just shut off a hot car. No coolant is circulating through the radiator...no fans are running so the temperature of the non-circulated fluid will rise.
3) It looks like you may have oil in your coolant...or perhaps someone mixed in something other than G12 and water. Either way you should have that looked at ASAP.

Hmm I thought the low temp switch only controled the fan...I could swear that I use to hear the pump
before... Yes it makes sense however my buddy's S4 does not do that, it stays at halfway, that's what got me paranoid.
My coolant was changed 4 months ago... and the weird thing is right after I changed it, the color was the same...however I did not give it much thought. I am going to see if I can bypass the oil cooler and see if that is the cause...

There are a few thermoswitches in the S4.
However, the one that controls the afterun pump system also activates one of the fans in conjunction with the pump.
The only way I could think you would hear the pump running without the fan would be if the fan was broken and the car was shut off when it was amazingly hot. Since the stock afterun pump system's activation temperture is 112C (234F).
No clue why your buddy's temp doesn't go up after shutdown. I assume they were both up to temp and run the same way prior to shutdown.

I just changed my coolant temp sensor 10 minutes ago
I noticed the coolant was fairly dark in color but I didn't think anything of it. Now after reading this thread I have a new issue to obsess over.
