ok to use water to clean s-flow ITG filter?
cleaning my MAF sensor with MAF spray cleaner. While I was there i decided to check my s-flow and it looks pretty dirty. will water work for a temporary cleaner? are there any filters that aren't oiled for our cars?

It is fine to use water (I use the ITG cleaning solution, but I am a sucker.. Dawn would work fine).. But you should give it a good wash soon, you won't believe what comes out of there. Your ITG should use the dry lube which is less damaging to your MAF than the K&N armor-all style lube oil.
In a large bucket put a small squirt of Dawn (really small, or you'll be rinsing forever) and about four inches of warm water.
Insert the filter open side up, and dunk it up to but not over the open end. You don't want all the dirty water going inside the filter.
Lift it out of the water and repeat the dunk...then dump the water as well as the pound of sand that comes out and repeat with fresh water/dawn mix with a little less dawn since you have residue in the foam..
Keep repeating this until the water runs clear...then ditch the bucket and just use runnng water... At this point, I usually run the water in the open end to flush everything out.
Shake the excess water out and let it dry, re-oil and let it dry then install.
As I mentioned, you want to avoid the dirty water going inside the filter!!!
