OMG : I hate Allstate Insurance....(a little long)
So about two weeks ago, a lady rear ends the guy behind me, which pushes his car into my bumper. Not really a big deal, just -2- little phillips head indentations. I take my car to an Allstate claims office. They take pictures, do the estimate, and ask if I have a body shop of choice. I mention German Auto Body, and the claims guy tells that Allstate refused to pay their labor rate, and that I can't take my car there. He then goes on to say, I can sue Allstate if I want, I will lose. No matter what I do, they will NOT pay the cost if I go to German Auto Body. G.A.B. has done work on my car before and I was very happy with the paint matching, customer service, etc. I am SO pissed at Allstate's attitude. I see AAA, State Farm, Progressive, they all allow G.A.B. to do work, and they pay the rate. My only option is to pay the difference in labor rates, Allstate=60 G.A.B.=70.
Please, is there anything I can do??
(besides firebomb the Allstate office, j/k, i think).
Thanks...still fuming.....

i thought all insurance companies let you choose
what bodyshop you want, and if you can't find one.. they have a list of shops. look in your contract with allstate.. on my state farm, it clearly states ANY bodyshop. best of luck

Yes..
if you're cool with GAB just have them hike the cost of some other stuff up enough to cover the 10-bucks-times-however-many-hours cost. Let Allstate think you're paying them the difference, get car fixed right, stop whinning and go driving.

you are right, you can choose where to get it fixed, but they only have to pay the "prevailing rate" in the area (including all those cheap sucky shops in the area in teh average)...i got screwed too....for a much bigger job. you could try small claims court, but my guess is you'll lose. you have to pay the difference...sucks...

Ah if she hit you ah hell I don't know but how many hours of labor is it? 2 =$20 difference just pay
it, tell allstate you negotiated a better labor rate and pay the damn $10 an hour difference yourself, well worth it if they are that much better!
