Default Is it only the APR chip that seems to lose power over time or are other's having the same problem

I have noticed that every two weeks or so, my car seems down on power. Its not so much that the power is diminished but that turbo lag has increased. I just don't feel the same rush as I did when i press the throttle. So i reset the ECU by pulling the negative cable and then things are back to normal for a while, maybe one or two tankfuls. Then power is gone again. What I need to know is are GIAC, WETT, MTM, Autothority, etc. chip owners having the same problem? Also are there any APR owners who are not having this problem especially in the Northeast, and what brand of gas are you using? I have been using Sunoco 94. Dont get me wrong the car is still faster than stock but not as fast as when i first put the chip in. I even did some 50-70 6th gear runs just to make sure I wasnt crazy. When I first put the chip in my times were 5.08-5.19 yesterday before pullin the ECU I got 5.6, 5.82, 5.9 temp was 55 degrees which incidentally is 30 degrees cooler than when I first got the chip. After pulling the battery cable I got times ranging from 4.95-5.23 that to me is a significant diference.
00' Blk/Blk S4

As a former resident of NYC...I would question the octane of the gas

Default NYLawyer, please send this info to Brett, tech@goapr.com

A few weeks ago, Brett has postulated that the drop in power was due to people being "tricked" into thinking that their cars were slower because of smoother turbo response. Since you have documented the performance drop with before/after testing, and are using 94 octane fuel, perhaps Brett will be kind enough to address this issue. With the number of people who have laptops with VAG compatible software, I can't imagine that with a little coaching, we can't get to the bottom of this.

Default I called APR prior to posting and they said that the computer was retarding the timing to protect

the engine and that it was normal. Thats why I wanted to see If others were also finding this to be the case.
00' Blk/Blk S4

Default I've got an MTM and havn't noticed any change in power. It still pulls like crazy....

from reading other posts I assumed alot of guys were experiencing power loss do to increasing temps, but you seem to have shot a hole in that theory.

I live in CT and work in NYC. I generally use Mobil Super, 93 octane, or Sunoco Ultra 94.

Default Not noticeable loss of power over time, butt dyno only...

I definitly feel the difference depending on the weather, crisp and cool and the car almost gets away from you. Cool and humid and it still feels like it can take on the world. Hot and humid, like two weekends ago, and your wondering if your emergency brake is on. I haven't felt that it dimishes over time, the first cool day and its right back to feeling the way it was the day I chipped it, 2/00.

Default APR Power Loss/Comments.

Live in South Texas-experienced a loss in power at 3/4 throttle in all gears but found my TBB was ripped. Changed out TBB and now back to full power. I think it's an octane problem but I've never had to fill up my S4 in NYC so I really shouldn't comment. Running Texaco 93 Octane almost exclusively.
