Default Is this only me? when I shift really fast 1st to 2nd gear (more)

when I launch hard and shift
gear from 1st to 2nd aounr 6K rpm
I get bump sound and ingage 2nd gear
it sounds like giving stress to transmission..
but is this normal?
I know that will give a lot of stress to transmission, any way to reduce stress even in same condition?

does AWE Drivtraing Stabilize thing.. (?) help?

thank you

Default yes and no... sorry there isn't an easy answer to this (m)

can it hold up to tons of HP? yes.

what about the clutch? No. rs4 will hold for most applications, spec has had a rocky history. some here recommend clutchmasters or sachs.

in general, though, the biggest problem is 1) notchyness and 2) synchros, specifically 2-3.

imo the new b6/b7 manual tranny is FAR better, but afaik a direct swap is not possible.

Default So if you install the DTS, where is the stress then going? (m)

It's not like it isn't occurring any more, the DTS doesn't eliminate stresses, it probably just redirects that energy into some other place. Then the question is, is that good or bad? Hence the reason I removed the DTS. Plus, I didn't find it made much of a difference.

Default you are right. more of the stress and therefor energy (can say "power/torque) remains in drivetrain

with use of DTS/snub.

without them the energy is mostly absorbed by the mushy stock diff mounts and engine mounts and clunking against the frame.

Default Is it a proven fact that more energy stays in the drivetrain? (m)

Just how much energy is supposed to be recouped?

If I dyno'd with and without the DTS I'm guessing there will be zero difference. It's a wonderful theory, just like all the debate about different DP's, but when it comes to the bottom line, power to the road, I really doubt the DTS/Snub make any difference.

Default so the question is, will the DTS increase or decrease wear on the engine mounts?

I know that my stock engine mounts were in GREAT shape when removed, after 3.5 years of not exactly granny-like driving.

(now I worry that the RS4 ones that went in instead are the craptastic Hamburg Technic ones)

difficult to say,i FEEL like there is less wear on the rear diff mount because it doesn't clunk much
