Opinions on front license plate from owners in MA, and other states in which they're required?
I know this has come up several times before but I was wondering what people are doing with the front license plate where the state requires that they have one.
My nogaro blue S4 is waiting to be prepped at the dealer. So far, I've told them to hold off on the front plate - I hated the idea of having holes drilled in the bumper. However, after I looked at the car it looks as if the panel where the plate would be mounted is replacable, in which case having it drilled might not be so bad.
Anyone have a better solution? I'd rather not go without a front plate all together - it seems like an invitation to be pulled over.

I will probably have the removeable piece drilled, but would really like to see this as an option...

I have some time before my car arrives so will see what solutions pop up between then and now, but I suspect drilling will my choice.. As much as I hate it, I can't see spending a lot of effort coming up with a better mount. If this adaptor ever becomes available, I'll get one.
This all seems so half-assed, why can't they make a US bumper with plate mounts.

I got a new car as well and didn't want the ugly front plate. I drove for almost 7 months before I got pulled over. I live in the People's Republic of Illinoisand was advised it would be a $75 fine. I told the cop that when I picked it up the extra plate was just sitting in the back seat. I claimed ignorance and was told to put it on. Good luck.
I think the rule sucks. Add that to the long list of things that suck in IL.
