Ranking were as follows
1. S4
2. M3
3. Saab 9-3 Viggen
4. C43 AMG

.........I think the Mercedes looks thick and clumsy compared to the A4 or M3. Plus, the way it's geared - it really doesn't get going till 100+........

...and then you get a "5" series (starts at ~$43,000 for a 528) instead of a "C" class (starts at ~$33,000 for a C230).

Now this is an awesome car. I had the opportunity to test drive a used one coming off a short term lease. Would have cost the same as the S4 I'm patiently waiting for. Without a doubt, the best handling car I've ever driven. Not twitch and stiff like the S4, but very, very smooth with excellent body motion control in twisties, whoop de dos and rises. This car gets up to speed VERY quickly (~280 hp) and is so composed you have no idea how fast you're going. My timid WIFE had this car over 70 mph on a back road marked for 40 in 4th gear. A) she didn't realize she needed to upshift b/c the engine was so smooth and quiet B) the car is so subtle, she had no idea she was going that fast. Braking (when she looked down at the speedo and panicked) was undramatic. Nice, nice car. Just a little too much car for me right now and
I WANT MY QUATTRO!! Now if only I could get my A4 sold...
