Default Osram "Cool Blue" City Light bulb write-up

Well one of the stock city light bulbs burned out on my Euro lights, so I looked around for replacements. I thought it would be nice to find something that more closely matched the Xenons. A couple people on the list had tried Phillips BlueVision and said they really didn't look much different than stock (yellowish light). I called PGPerformance and they said they now have Osram "Cool Blue" bulbs which the sales guy told me are better than the Phillips. They are also more expensive ($17 canadian per bulb!) So I thought I would give them a try.

The bulb only had a very slight blue coating... not enough in my mind to do much. Here are
the stock and Osram bulbs compared side by side.

So I installed one in my car, and just by looking at it I could see no difference. To me it looked like the same yellowish light as before. Then I did a visual comparison to the other side (which still had the stock bulb), and I could *barely* see that the Osram bulb appeared just *slightly* whiter. I mean on a scale of 1 (standard yellowish bulb) to 10 (blue/white real xenon), this is like a 1.5. When you turn on the xenons, they still look completely yellow in comparison. In this picture the Osram is on the left.

So basically I thought these were a waste of money.

Default get a set of blue bulbs at almost any performance shop.

most of them tend to look white, a set I had
in my A4 matched the HID's perfectly. I got
them from Geoff - modern performance up in CT,
but I think he went out of business. In case
he didn't, email him at mdrnperf@aol.com

Cliff notes: The Osram Cool Blue Light bulbs were neither cool, nor blue, nor very light.
