Default Our batteries don't seem to last long...

I was in at the local Jiffy Lube this morning to get my oil changed. They do it on the cheap ($20 since I usually have a coupon and bring my own oil/filter) and, at this shop, are very meticulous. Anyway, one guy hooked up some wires to my battery and measured its output. The battery is rated at 570 cold-cranking amps (CCA) but is only putting out 429 @ 12.7v. AFAIK, the battery was new in August of 2002 when I purchased the car used (dealer's word). Every two years for a battery seems weak.

Default Ugh... Jiffy Lube. Sounds like they are trying to sell you a battery.

I've heard too many horror stories about Jiffy Lube to even consider taking any car there.

Shame on you for not changing your own oil.

Default What a minute. They charge $20 WITH a coupon and you bring oil and filter?

That's absurd.

Default I watched these guys. They're good. They printed out a report about the battery levels...

are you saying that I shouldn't trust them? I guess there's always a chance that they make the machines "lie".

Default $20 seems fair for the labor, oil disposal, fluid top off, etc. Disposing of oil hassle is enough...

to make me feel OK paying someone else $20.

Default Bah - dispose at any auto parts store. The weather is nice now - do it in the street!
