Default Oversize JE Pistons for S4's

We contracted with JE to develop an 81.5MM piston for the S4 and have just received our shipment. We have seen S4 engines with scored cylinder walls that needed to be overbored and with bad pistons. Audi does not market oversize pistons, so you would either have to trash the block, or bore/sleeve/ and bore back to standard...and then buy new stock pistons...certainly possible, but not desireable. We will be testing these pistons in an engine very soon. There are a couple of nice advantages to these pistons over the stock Mahles.

This makes the engine a 2.75L. There should be no cooling issues with the slight displacement increase.

Default How about piston slap with those?

I had some serious piston slap in my old block using JE pistons until the motor warmed up and I know a bunch of other people running JE's that has the slap until the car warms up.

How much clearance are you going to run with those to allow for expansion when the motor heats up?
