Part number for shifter shaft for Innovator's shifter mod.
Finally got this from my parts department:
00 model: 8D0-711-117
01 model: 8d0-711-117-G
This is supposedly the part number for the shaft/rod (whatever you want to call it) that the shift **** screws in to. I ordered one for my 2.7T ($19.95) which should be here by Friday, I'll let people know if this is the right part, but the guy on the phone seemed pretty confident.
Hope this helps,

Use stock shaft. Get a 12x1.5mm dye to cut the threads further down the shaft so you will have
new threads to screw the shift **** onto when you shorten. The "up-to-early '01" shifter can be shortened 1.25" w/o problems and the newer '01-02 shifter can be shortened almost 1.5" w/o problems.
Use the shifter boot sleeve(take the boot off and turn it inside out to see the length of the sleeve) to determine how far you can cut off the rod. You will need to remove the same ammount from the shift boot sleeve as well. Do NOT cut more off the rod than is removable from the boot or you will lose your reverse engage travel space.
Also may need to adjust the pivot bolt on the lower shifter housing to center the shifter again. Easy to do, cheaper, and the shifter remains stock on the transmission.
BTW - this is info only for your education. Any actions you do and the end result are your doings.

Make sure that if you don't remove the shifter from the car
that you use a big pair of vice grips to hold the shifter from moving while using the die so as to not damage the assembly (i.e. I did not remove my shifter but rather did it all installed in the car)
