Parts suppliers NEVER compensate for labor to R/R their defective parts, right?
My impression is that this is always the case and I understand the reason when labor to replace something can run 2, 3, 4 times the cost of the part, but parts suppliers are somewhat responsible for insuring the quality of what they sell and in cases like my motor mounts, should be able to tell when they are peddaling substandard parts.

It only happens at the dealer because the parts supplier (Audi) has a very close
business relationship with the dealer. If they suspect any foul play they have plenty of authority or leverage to apply to the dealer to get their money back. As a dealer employee (not Audi) I have seen service departments milk this tit, and I have seen the manufacturer bust their asses in a big way for it, and at the end of the day, they are still business partners.
I just don't see this business model working with aftermarket parts suppliers and indie shops.
