Picking up a 2000 S4 tomorrow....
Silver, 6 spd manual, black leather, 58k on the clock. Body is mint, interior has some minor wear. I had the car Audi certified inspected (pre-purchase), in anticipation of buying it from a private seller. The valve cover gasket and chain tensioner?? were just replaced. Clutch was done at 40k. The car passed the 30 point inspection and has no issues.
Seller was asking 19k or best offer. We settled on 18k. I am wondering if this is a good deal?
A big concern is that the vehicle has had 3 total owners. First, being a lease, second being a certified pre-owned sold to a guy that drove it primarily on the weekends and not as a daily driver. The most recent owner (current seller) has put about 10k/year since he bought it in 04'. Would this hurt potential future resale?<ul><li><a href="http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=21& paId=191586158&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerP age=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder= descending&sortfield=PRICE+descending&cert ifi

Re: valve cover has to be pulled to replace the cam chain tensioner, which is why the gasket was
Is the valve cover gasket (leaking) going bad at 60k cause for concern?
Does 18k$ seem like a good price for the vehicle?

IMO B5 S4's depreciation will slow down now. Considering this was a $45k car, and now can be
had for $18k says a lot. Assuming you kept it in similar condition, you wouldn't be selling it for less than $10k for a long time.

I was somewhat reluctant to go with a 2000, as i've been hearing how problematic they can be. Is it that big of a deal that I went with a '00? It just seemed like too good of a deal to pass up, given the low mileage (58k) and condition.
