Piggie Pipe question.... Weld in straight pipe?
I was looking up piggies in the Archives, and I saw a post that the only good way to completely clean out the pre-cat was to cut it open, clean out, then re-weld it back on.
I know many say this is not necessary, but IF it were being done this way, why would you not just completely cut off the pre-cat and weld a piece of straight pipe in it's place?
Wouldn't that make better flow than an expansion tank mid stream in the downpipe? At least, it's less of a hassle than messing with the innards of a cat, and breathing in any catalyst powder.
I know you're still smaller in diameter than a real set of DPs, but wouldn't that be better than a cleaned out pre-cat?
What do you guys think? Anyone done this?
