Default incidentally Mike...

My 2nd gear problem... while I havn't had it in to the dealer yet, turns out it's a "stop" related problem. That is, the linkage is allowing the shifter to go past it's "in 2nd" point... and that position appears to be a new one, called 2nd neutral As long as I'm not rambunctious on the 1st/2nd throw it's fine.

Cheers,

Earnie

Default Really, that's odd, isn't it?

So you are saying that you can't put much force on that shift transition. It's hard not too, I mean, come on, it's 2nd gear!!! THat's the one you really need. THere has to be a way to stop the travel before you get into that dead zone you described.
So do you think the dealer might be able to do something for you if you take it in, or no?
Take care,
Mike

Default definitely....

it's not quite that easy to do it actually, takes a spirited throw to get it to miss the "stop" (i'm guessing thats whats happening in there). When I spoke to my service tech about it, he suspected it was something to do with the linkage. I've only had it happen once on the 1/2 shift (guess I'm a bit more gentle with that one), but have had it happen a few times on the 3/2 downshift - rev matching in a descending radius turn just before I merge into another lane of traffic (hence the need to do everything "quickly"). And for sure they'll fix it ! Next week sometime as I didn't have time to get it in this week, and it isn't a "critical" issue. I'll advise once it's fixed as to what it was.

Cheers,

Earnie

Default I'm glad they are taking care of you then...Do you like to rev-match on downshifts?...I usually ..

bring it up a bit, but not to a total match.
Good luck with your car! I'll be interested to see your results.
later,
Mike
