I passed him this afternoon doing about 75 or so on 280N (around Lawrence)... He pulls up behind be in the fast lane as I downshift into 5th "just in case" ;-)

As traffic starts to clear, he goes 2 lanes to the right (corolla in the immediate-right lane)... the minivan in front of me was far enough in front of the corolla by now, so I plant the throttle and slide in front of the corolla as I notice him getting on it, too... traffic is very light, so what the heck...

I'm still in front of him and leave my foot planted.. 80..90..he slides in behind me (about 2-3 carlengths back I thnk)..110..he's starting to fade a little..120..130..he's getting smaller...140...by now he's a good 10 cars back.. hmm, exit coming up (85N) so I slide over and bring it down to ~90 and he comes up behind me again...

we get into 85N but there is traffic so I didn't try anything (nor did he)... I get over a little prematurely for the El Camino North exit, and he gets in front of me... I see his passenger look at my car ;-)

Getting onto El Camino N he doesn't accelerate very hard at all, so I just go around him and try to look at him, but he doesn't even look over

I dunno if he was pissed or what *shrug* :-)

I was in X mode (not XR), btw... just wondering if that was normal for the CLK55 or not? WHen I told someone this story, they asked "was he trying"? Well, if you are hanging with someone up to those speeds, you best be "trying", right? I can't knwo for sure, of course...

Maybe he wasn't trying,but hey who cares ,your car is still better IMO

0-60 I think it's around 5.8 or so. I loooove the AMG, actually it's the only Merc I've ever liked. You never know though, a lot of people don't have the ***** to even go over 100mph so he might have let off a little.

CLK55s are very quick. He probably just didn't want the ticket...... or he left it in D instead of snicking over to 3rd or 4th....
