Poll: guess whats wrong with my car, winner gets....
nothing, but I will announce who was right. :-)
My car went into the dealer this morning.
Symptoms: first time I noticed I was driving around 15 mph in rush hour, ambient temp 85 deg, AC set to 72 with 4 bars showing. Coolant temp was two notches right of the middle and oil was at 260. Turned of AC, and when I got going at 60 mph it went to normal.
Next two times mostly just the coolant temp got high even with AC off. This happens especially if I have been driving and the car is at normal temps when I turn it off, then when I get in 10 min later the coolant is two notches hotter than when I left it. Coolant and Oil levels are normal.
So what part do you think is broken? (be specific (ie. fan clutch))
Ill announce what it was when I get it back.

I don't think there IS a problem...
It is normal for a car to get hotter from sitting on hot days.
This happens especially if I have been driving and the car is at normal temps when I turn it off, then when I get in 10 min later the coolant is two notches hotter than when I left it. Coolant and Oil levels are normal.
Exactly. The engine is warmer than the coolant on a hot day after running in hot traffic. So when sitting, the coolant within the block gets warmer. When you kick on your car, you'll notice that it's reading the temperature of the coolant within the block, so it will read warmer than what it would be if the coolant is flowing through the radiator and is being cooled off. After running the car for a bit, the coolant cycles, cools off in the radiator, and you're running at a normal temperature again.

Im positive there is a problem.
It gets hotter now when it never did under the same conditions before and it happens with regularity (every time I drive).
Driving at 15 mph with it 85 deg and AC on at 71 with 4 bars the coolant should not be ONE notch left of HOT, nor should the oil be 260.

My bad -- reliving some small-block-chevy experience...
Worst I've seen my S4 get on a bad day is one notch to the right of straight up in heavy traffic with the AC going on a 95+ degree day.
