Poor BM3car...
Remember how anxiously he was waiting for the arrival of his E46 M3 for all those months, and now the thing's on the fast track to getting lemon-lawed...despite his sometime trolling, I really feel sorry for the guy! Hope he gets a new one....

http://forums.roadfly.com/bmw/e46m3/forum.php?postid=115308&page=1</a

I'm amazed how few people worry that the E46 needs a service at 1200 miles...
the Porsche recommended service interval is "be sure to bring it in once a year".
Yea...that's some real sophisticated engine ingesting valves and all.

This guys going to get reamed by BMWNA unless he calms down
and does this the politically-correct business way. Left some pointers, hope he reads them. Got a lot of experience lately with this topic...
NASA don't forget all the E46 M3 puke that was blown in testing circuits here in SC/NC. Been there, seen it. Remember why the IRON block is there and not the ALUMINUM.
Also I can see the Lotus statement since they are a little "particular" but the Porsche flat 6 is pretty indestructable in my experiences - and as much as I hate to admit it the 996 watercooled one is just about perfect. I guess required oil changes between 10K and 15K(the car tells you I think) don't speak "dependability" to this guy. Didn't know the 1,200 M3 requrement. Gotta wonder why and how long this engine is good for...
Replacement is in town. Getting her Monday.

Re: Poor BM3car...
"My E46 M3 has been broken for two weeks and I am driving a 325 auto... Any questions?"
But does anyone else realize how arrogant this sounds? Sometimes you've got to look at the big picture. We are all lucky people to be driving these automobiles.
I actually feel the same way right now, since my S4 is in the shop and all they had to give me was a A6 2.8. Neither of us are driving what we paid for, but none the less, we are both very lucky people.

Orange corrosion on his piston head?
Thought I remembered that one thing the last-gen Euro M3 had over the US M3 (besides Double VANOS) was iron cylindar liners. I read in some auto rag a couple years ago that one of the reasons for this difference was that US fuel would corrode these liners.
Then last month I read that the engine in the new US M3 now has iron cylinder liners.
Does anyone else know more about this?
