Pre 2001.5 S4 problems
I'm looking into buying a used S4 and the majority of the ones I've looked at are early 2001 models and older. I was wondering exactly I had to keep my eyes open for when buying an S4 older than the 2001.5 models. I found so far the F-tubes, TBB (whatever that is), and the control arms (which I have no idea about as well). Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in Advance,
Bruce

TBB is a problem with ALL S4s and control arms are an issue for ALL Audis.
The F-hose was removed from the '01.5 and later S4s. All of those are relatively minor issues though.
The more expensive problems tend to be turbocharger failures and transmission problems. Both of those can occur in all S4s (regardless of model year) as well.

the TBB is the throttle body boot
it connects the two up-pipes coming from the intercoolers. It sits right infront of the throttle body and has a high tendency to tear. You can get an aftermarket one for around $80, so its not so bad
