I am upgrading the brake system on my 1997 A4 Quattro from an ordinary ABS system to a 2001 system with ABS/ESP. For economic reasons I have bought and installed a used ESP hydraulic unit, OEM 8E0614111T.
When test driving the car (without electrical connections to the hydraulic unit) I experienced the following problem: The brakes slowly went on automatically, bringing the car to a complete halt after 1-2 km.
The brakes should normally work fine without the hydraulic unit electrically connected, se this clip:
The clip has been taken from a VW Passat forum (passatworld), and the pertinent car (VW Passat B5) also uses the hydraulic unit 8E0614111T.
Has anybody else experienced the above mentioned problem (also Audi A6 C5 use the same hydraulic unit). And do you know what may cause the problem?
