Problems with my new wheels...

So about three months ago I got my latest set of 18x8 wheels. I was really excited about then because I had ordered them to spec and they were supposed to be really light and strong. They are forged. They looked awesome, just beautiful. I get so many compliments on them.
But after I installed them, I noticed a bit of shake in the car at highway speeds (greater than 70mph) I did a trip across the continent with them and was dismayed that the car not only shook, but shook violently at these speeds. I thought it was the alignment.
At the end of the trip, I took the car in for an alignment. No difference. So I had the wheels re-balenced and the pressure checked. Slight difference, not much better. So I took them back and had them re-balenced again. No difference. And again. Still no difference. 4 balencings and one alignment. It must be the wheels!
Upon closer inspection I noticed that in order to be balenced each wheel had to have an average of 2oz of weight stuck on it. That is EIGHT - COUNT THEM - EIGHT weights - way more than is normally put on wheels to balence them.
I havn't hit any potholes with these wheels either.
The other day I decided to try something. I took the spare tire which I know is perfectly balenced and true, and substituted it on different corners of the car and tested it. On all cases the car was a 'little' better, but not much, which suggests that each of my set is a 'little' off.
So what's the deal? Aren't these things supposed to be strong? They're not true at all!!
Also, when I took one of them off, all the paint on the back of the wheel (the part that is in contact with the hub) flaked and came off. WTF?
Not to mention that they pit like crazy and the polished surface inside the wheel is permanently black (beyond cleaning) with break dust.
I am "extremely" unsatisfied with these wheels. I'm thinking of scraping them and buying a decent mass-produced brand.
I won't tell you the manufacturer of these wheels, but I will say that it rhymes with "Clintro Clorged"
Cyan, you there?

That's Intro Forged. you mis-spelled. :-)
A lot of folks have had problems with those wheels, and you're not the first. And to top that, your problems are pretty much exactly the problems certain individuals had on the vwvortex forum.
I don't think Cyan posts here anymore. Their site is still up. Have you tried to contact him?
Cyan's name is Vince.

How were they balanced?
When I had my CH's balanced the technician (a pretty good mechanic) mentioned that sometimes tech's do not balance wheels correctly when you can not put weights on both sides of the wheel (for looks or otherwise).
Sometimes weights are hidden behind a spoke, but on the outside of the wheel nonetheless. You might try a different shop and ask if they can insure a proper balance.
Since you have had them looked at multiple times, this may not be your problem. Based on some of the other quality problems you mentioned, you may have a crappy set of wheels, that only look awesome.

No, he never worked for them....
Just bought stuff from them, Big Nipper knows a little more about the situation than I do, but he's told me that Vince was in no way affiliated with Intro Forged aside from being a customer.
