Default first check to see if you just didn't install the SS poorly

if that doesn't help, take that POS out and get back to stock before taking it to get it fixed.

Default Are you experiencing any grinding during shifts?

If you are, then it could be your 1st/2nd gear synchro is on the way out too.

Default Bentley guide has a good section on adjusting the shifter

When installing a SS, it is easy to adjust the lever to be too vertical in neutral and mess up engagement in first and second. Do you have the same play side to side when in 2nd and 6th? If not, you need to align things side to side.

Also, there is a very specific distance for the shifter mechanism to sit back from the front of the opening in the console.

Try these links...

<a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/871929.phtml">First Link</a>

<a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/479810.phtml">Second Link</a>

I just installed my shifter this weekend and these helped me a lot, especially the pictures showing the correct orientation of the shift lever when in neutral (leans to the right 3 deg, and back about 7 deg). If your shifter is sitting straight up and down in neutral, you are not aligned correctly.

Default r.e. first bolt

Loosen the 6mm hex bolt and the entire shifter assembly slides fore and aft on the rails. Moving the assembly back causes the shifter to lean more forward, and vice versa.
