PSA: Nokian RSIs and Quattro rock, that is all...
Went up to Heavenly this weekend for some fun in the snow and coming up the 50 some jacka$$ driving a lifted F250 in oncomming traffic lost it, slid across the lanes and nearly broadsided me. I was able to chuck it hard and just missed having his bumper make nice with my rear quarter panel. Car felt solid and aside from the regurged rock star in my mouth all was well =)
Rob
PS. They're still fun to slide around in empty parking lots late at night =9

Absolutely the best non-studded snow tire I have ever used...
and they helped me pilot a pig of a '91 200q20v Avant to the most wins at the SCCV ice racing events last winter, silly WRX's never had a chance!

In snow conditions I suspect that the the RSi might be better than current studded tyres...
Talking about pure snow here -- not ice.
But if you look at the ABS braking distance 80-0 km/h in the Scandinavian test for the RSi vs. the Hakka 4, the Hakka 4 did it in 58.5 metres and the RSi in 59.0 metres. So only 1/2 metre difference.
But that's comparing to the Hakka 4 which isn't generally available in North America. The Hakka 4 is better than the Hakka 2. So I wouldn't be surprised if in comparing to the Hakka 2 the RSi is as good or better.
On acceleration 5-30 km/h both tyres took 3.7 seconds. And in cornering, both tyres were also perfectly matched.

Just curious...I have 17" Hakka WRs, what tire pressure you run? And I love them too
I've been keeping them around 37lbs.
We had a sqaull a couple weeks ago here.
In a empty lot on 2" of fresh powder
doing figure 8s with a big smile on my face.
So much control it's allmost rediclous.

RE: Studded vrs not studded...
You can't drive studded tires in California (as far as I know), so it was either these or the Blizzaks and I got a rippen deal on these =)

California permits studded tyres.
November 1 - April 30. Unless heavy storm; then may be permitted.
