FWIW, my RNS-E NAV arrived from Germany that way, even though it included the original code card too.

i dont mind the concept of the code
but if you lose it the dealers shouldn't be such ****** about helping. BH wanted $60, AG wanted $120 (full hour of labor, and even had the ***** to tell me it would take 15 min to look it up). rusnak wanted $69. finally, one of the dealer techs did it for free after we chatted for a min.
all the need is the engraved serial number from the side and your vin. problem solved.

Found mine yesterday. It was on a card under the floormat (m)
and the code was different from the one in the manual. Never had my radio replaced....and I definitely didn't put the card under the floormat. Oh well, at least now I'm no longer driving in silence!
