Default Pure MS CV boot kit supplied an odd looking axle shoulder bolt? Not 17mm hex like stock..

Anyone ever get one of these? I ordered a front wheel bearing kit and front outer CV boot kit. The front wheel bearing kit supplied the identical-to-stock 17mm hex shoulder bolt. But then the CV boot kit had a different bolt. The head of it is larger than my biggest socket (which is 24mm), so I'm assuming its about a 26mm head. The length and thread appear to be identical but the hex head on it sticks out further than the stock bolt. Is it an acceptable replacement? In other words, is it something I could keep as a spare?

Default i never understood why you couldnt just re-use the old hex bolt.

i have re-used them before, on my 90, and other cars...never had any problems.

Default Mike Moore re-used mine when we did my motor pull, and I re-used them when I did

my drivers side CV boot. Never had a problem. Although I have read numerous times that they are "torque to yield", or "stretch" bolts and should not be re-used. I'll be replacing them this time.

Default Ours stretch when torqued. I reused mine and then Nick Gustas posted a pic

showing the diff between a used bolt and new... visibly different =-/

Default yes, from what I understand.. by the way, does anyone have the torque spec for them on hand?

the number 180 ft\lbs with another 90deg turn comes to mind? can anyone confirm? also torque spec on brake caliper carrier bolts? I believe its 150 ft\lbs?

Default the problem comes when you are putting it back on the car and re-torque it might ...

break and that will not be fun to get it out.
