Default Q for Luke (et al) @ Tirerack - S4 & 20" rims....

Guys,

I'm contemplating fitting either 8x20" or 8.5x20" rims (offset 45) to my S4.

What size tires would be required to keep the rolling radius of the wheel identical to the original?

Best wishes,

RamŽ

Default With 20s you are beyond the point of stock rolling diameter.

There is a chart on tires on tirerack that will give you compairisons in tire diameters.

Default Stock Diameter is 24.97, 235/25 R20 = 24.63, 235/30 R20 = 25.55. Don't know if those sizes are made

I would be pretty surprised if they were.

Default There are some unnecessarily nasty people about on AW...

Here's what I was contemplating...

It's real easy to flame people, but it takes some skill to respond with some technical prowess...

Regards,

Default Well.. considering the proper 19's are 215 35 19 to keep the same diameter

I'd venture to say I wouldn't go much higher than that. or I'd do 215 30 20 if you really had to have it!

the calculations are as follows.
{([215*0.3]*2)/25.4}+20=25.07 which is about identical to the stock size of 25 inches ~approx.

Good luck finding a tire or something that will fit. Let me know what you find.

Default Light-hearted! Not nasty.

I can't help it - when I hear 'twenty inch wheels' my mind fills
with images of horrible 50 pound chrome Arellis and the like,
due to all this "rolling on dubs" stuff the kids are into lately.
