Question for "973-S4" on Aladdin installation
In the referenced thread you indicated a shop has installed the Aladdin with a neutral lockout for the starter. As far as I can tell none of the manual Audi 4 series already have any electrical switches to detect neutral. Do you know if this person had something off the shelf to adapt to this or was it a custom fabrication?
Can you give me the name of the shop?<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/711778.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/711778.phtml</a</li></ul>

follow up
Do you have a manual and do you have to follow the manual transmission sequence before leaving the car each time to enable auto start with the Aladdin or do you just hit the E button any old time?
Thanks.
Thanks.

That is how mine is supposed to work...
...but I get the impression 973-S4 has something different going.
The reason I am pursuing this is I am installing an Aladdin 2000 into my manual equipped A4. There is no neutral detection of any kind already on the A4 manual. I cant find anything in the Bentley that suggests the 6 speed has anything either. If 973-S4 has something installed that prevents starting unless he is in neutral, other than the exit sequence you mentioned, I would like to talk to the person that put it in.
By the way, the Aladdin has no direct way of knowing a transmission (auto or manual) is in neutral or the parking brake is set. It is implied. In the standard install with an automatic Aladdin presumes the car's lockouts will prevent it from starting unless it is in park or neutral. You know what the standard manual install requires - if it is running when you leave the car and shut the door, it must be in neutral. The only things it knows are the key has been removed (or shut off depending on the hookup) and a door opened and shut.

I just got the standard installation...
I have the 6 speed and I do have to follow that procedure before exiting the car every time. What sucks about it is if I have to go in my car for anything, I have to go through that same procedure in order for the auto-start to work.

Great, thanks.
I have part of a setup that will let me (with a manual transmission) start and stop it just like it were an automatic from the Aladdin's perspective. The parking brake switch is controlling a relay that interrupts the Aladdin's START line if it is not set. The next step is to come up with a neutral detection switch as well so the system is foolproof. After reading your comment I thought someone had found or created something already.
