Question about changing rear brake pads yourself
For anyone who has changed their rear brake pads and/or disks themself. How did you compress the piston back into the cylinder. The manual shows a special tool that screws the cylinder back in. Do you need this? I have taken my caliper off to fit slotter rotors and pads and now I can't get the caliper back on.

Re: Thats what I've done in the past, but on this car the piston needs to be screwed back in
needs to be screwed and pushed in at the sametime.go to a decent auto place[pepboys, sears auto,et.]$40.00 gets the tool and adapters.don't become creative and strip the parking brake mech.

If it's anything like the rear brake pistons on my A4........
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/116/brake_piston_tool.jpg"></center><p>...you need one of these tools (this is a "universal" one made by Lisle and slightly modified by me with a Dremel tool.)
Turn with this tool, then give it a gentle squeeze with a C-clamp, then turn some more, then more with the C-clamp.
This tool was $10 or so at my local Pep Boys.
