Question about glazed brake pads. Can you look at a pad to determine if it's glazed or not?........
Just asking because after fixing a vacuum assist problem with my brakes (symptom was poor braking power) I seemed to have reduced braking power soon after again.
I pulled a pad and it looked like a mirror (the pads are Hawk HPS) - very shiney and really, really smooth - there were 3 or 4 spots on each front pad that looked like normal dull pad material - the rest was shiney.
Anyway, I sanded off the mirror like areas and my braking seems to be normal again.
So, two questions:
1. Can you look at a pad and see it is glazed?
2. I know time will tell, but does sanding down a pad fix the problem or once a pad is glazed is it glazed for good?
