Hi All,

I just purchased a 2001 S4. One of the things that I'm concerned with - when I turn on the engine, I start hearing a hum \ vibration noise coming from the center console. Mind you - the stereo is turned off and AC is off as well. It sounds like a vibration \ electrical short sound and it's coming fom the lower end (right above ash tray) of center console. It is not that loud, but noticeable and annoying. There's NO sound when the engine is off and stereo turned on.

I spoke with a mechanic at Audi - he said that this is a fan of a climate system that runs behind the console panel and this noise is normal.

I, personally, do not think that there should be any noise in the car like that. I mean - it's originally a over $40K car and it should be quiet.

Can this be fixed? Any other ideas regarding this?
