Default Question for those that have had bad MAF's.

Need help diagnosing a problem that went away for a week or so and now has returned. No boost over 4/10 bar and very rough idle. Are these the typical DTC's for a bad MAF?
2 DTC's Found:
17538 - Fuel Trim: Bank 2 (Mult): System too Lean
35-00 - -
17536 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Mult): System too Lean
35-00 - -
What symptoms did you experience?
Would the car run better with the MAF unplugged?
TIA

Default Yes. Bad MAF. Exactly same symptoms as me, gone completely when MAF was changed, and they haven't

returned

You can _try_ cleaning the MAF, but best to get a new one.

Default Thanks. I was afraid of that. Aren't there two manufacturers and isn't one better?

As I recall, Bosch's were the problem, I think.

Default You can't change from one to the other :-( They are too different...

well, I'm sure you "can".. but it's extremely non-trivial...

Yes, Bosch in the MY2000's and some MY2001's...

Default Well, I cleaned it and it runs fine now. Let's hope it stays that way

BTW, when I removed it, there were bugs in the screen before the sensor. Seems the air filter wasn't set right when I reinstalled it for the new plugs I put in a few weeks ago. There was a gap on one side. Maybe it was just some bug guts stuck on the sensor? :-)
