Default Questions for those of you with the Tanoga shortshifter...

1. After installing the SS, the force needed to push the shifter down for reverse has decreased significantly. If I just rest my hand on the shift ****, it goes down. Is this normal?

2. When moving the shifter from side to side, it seems to move a LOT more to the left than the right. Also when the shifter is in 2,4,6th gear, it looks like it's just in neutral, when it's in 1,3,5 gear, it looks like it's pointed forward. Is this normal?

3. There is supposed to be a plastic tube about 3.5 inches under the shift **** inside the boot. After installing the shifter, the shift **** won't screw on with the tube in place. Any suggestions?

Sorry for the long post, but i'd really appreciate your help..TIA

1. You didn't put the circlip down far enough, there are 2 rings it can attach to you put on the upper needs to be on the lower.

2. Make very sure it is adjusted properly, if it is not it can cause tranny problems. After it is installed it will look a little odd in 5 and 6 because of the greatly reduced movement.

3. See 1.

Default Thanks for the answers, but one more thing...

Where can I find out how to adjust it properly. I already saw a scan of it from the bentley manual, but i'd like to see another one, just for clarification.
Thanks!!!!

Default Did you check the RS4.org guide to installation?

That is the best guide I have seen. I really think adjustment requires 2 people though.<ul><li><a href="http://www.rs4.org/rs4/rs4-fearture/tanoga-shifter/tanoga-intro.htm">Tanoga Install</a></li></ul>
