do you need a 'race license' to race on tracks? any places in chicago area where you can race on tracks with out a race license? thanks in advance!

yes you do
unless go in as a student driver.
But for any race, time trial events, one has to get a license from the group to run without an insturctor.
I just got mine yesterday along with 4 other S4ers from NY/NJ area.
Now we can run without an instructor.

You might also consider...
upgrading your suspension and brakes. The stock rotors will warp after a tough day on the track and I dont feel the stock suspension is set up well for track driving. I have MTM full suspension but am thinking of changing to H&R Ultra Coilovers or even better, Vortrag coilovers. I think those would be perfect for you, oh yeah, that and some 6-piston Alcons
