Read the new RS4 info on Home Page: Again, why no sedan?
By all indications, this is truly a great vehicle that can outperform the new E46 BMW M3. I undertand the whole tradirion thing, the RS4 being a successor to the RS2 wagon, but I still think Audi will miss a genuine market for an ultra high performance sedan than can keep up and beat the new M3.
I know the RS4 is not coming to North America, but I would think that a sedan body would broaden its appeal much more than a station wagon. We all know that there is already a sold market for the M3 both here and in Europe. Why not introduce this wonderful car in a body shape that most enthusiasts lust for? I don't think too many soccer moms need 380 hp and 0-62 mph in 4.9 sedonds! (I'm only kidding. I like the Avant body style a great deal. I just think an RS4 sedan should be available as well.)
The other puzzling bit is that the RS4 is just about to be introduced to the market (mid-2000, says the press release). This is only a few months before the new A4 body style makes its debut. How long does Audi plan to sell the old body style RS4 alongside the new A4 and A4 Avant?

Its all about breaking down misconseption, Saloons are just space ineffiecent, viva the Estate
The RS4 is the perfect car, praticle interior, 4wd, plenty of head room (with no sunroof) and lots of storage space, try getting a 32" wega TV in Box in a Saloon.
I certainly dont want to compramise my storage space just so i can fit a ricer spoiler.
Look at the A6 ugly in saloon, stunning in Avant.
But being sensible the RS4 is a sports wagon its just a slightly higher angled hatchback, not a true estate, theres no extended rear end or 90 degree rear door like on my Volvo T5 and the storage space is half that of the Volvo.
Still practicle and quick, thats what i like.

About 70% of A4 or S4's in Europe are Avant. So they cover most of the market with the RS4

And they have the nerve to put RS4 engine in U.S. S4 race car...
Audi propoganda bureau with their Speedvision World Challenge Cup cars that are now doing well. They started with RS4 engine package but are racing as an S4 in U.S. series...now if THAT isn't adding insult to injury...I don't know what is!
