Default Rear diff and tranny fluid capacities

no i'm not asking, so dont tell me to STFA...this is more of a follow up on uberview's post below.

I called one of my local dealer's (the good one) and talked to the tech there, he's a cool guy and we have talked before, so he was glad to help me. I asked him about tranny and diff fluid, basically told me what we already know, to use 75w-90 synthetic gear oil, GL-4 and GL-5 etc.

However, what he did tell me that i was misguided on, as well as maybe some others, was the capacity. He told me that the rear DIFF holds 1.3 litres which equals 1.14 Quarts. According to what i've read in the archives, i've heard of ppl putting in almost 2 full quarts.

For the Manual transmission, he told me it holds 1.9 litres, which is equal to 1.66 quarts. Which is obvisouly equal to well under 2 quarts, again, according to the archives people were putting in 3 quarts!

Can anyone varify this? I trust this guy, as he was reading from some official audi scale or what have you. If this is the case alot of people have been putting in way too much fluid.

(DAMNIT this chart is the wrong one! still, 3 qts is too many!)

http://www.initium.demon.co.uk/converts/metimp.htm</a

your conversions are wrong. liter are bigger than quarts. 1.9l = 2qts
