Refinishing Avus Wheels
I recently swapped some tires around and the installer scratched a wheel. They've offered to send it out for refinishing. I've never seen the results of this process. Anyone have any experience here?

These should be easy wheels to refinish.

Another option is to buy a used one for $200 in classifieds.

You can do a wheel exchange with Wheel Collision Center for $225. I'd go that route.
Seems like a pretty reputable outfit.<ul><li><a href="http://www.wheelcollision.com/a/audi4.htm">S4 wheel prices</a></li></ul>

That doesn't seem like a good deal...
You could have a damaged Avus wheel refinished for $100-$150 or you could pay them $225 for a refinished wheel and give them yours to sell to the next sucker. If it was $150-$175 plus the wheel exchange, maybe it would be worth it.

I just did two wheels and they turned out great...look good as new for between $100-$150 per wheel

I don't believe $225 is refinished. They sell new for $250 without a trade, so....
I think their just giving you $25 credit for your old damaged wheel and giving you a new one. You could probably get a refinished wheel for even less with a trade.

I'm pretty sure that the $250 ones are refinished.
If the wheels retail new from Audi for $489 each, I don't see how they could be selling them for $250 and not losing money.
In fact the site indicates that they are "as new" (their quotes) refurbished wheels. -Dave Pramanik |
I could be wrong; I've never called and asked. Point taken.
