Replaced F-hose

My car felt low on power while at Watkins Glen, esecially in the upper gears during the last session. As my low fuel warning came on while pulling into the pits, I attributed it to fuel starvation. This seem to be confirmed by DTCs pointing to "EGT regulation limit reached" on both banks.
I filled her up with 94 octane, cleared the DTCs and went for a test drive. Problem is still there. At WOT in 4th and 5th, there is little torque after 4500 rpm accompanied by a hissing sound. I also experienced a drop throttle buck/surge. A new "charge pressure control postive deviation" DTC was set. After checking around for loose hoses and clamps, I noticed oil residue in the area of the F-hose..AHA!! Pulled out the weakling and there was a 1/4" tear in the area between the 2 arms of the F. Replaced with a Samco hose that I had lying around, cleared the DTC and I now have The Power back. :) Installation was a PITA and gave me a backache. Since the passenger Forge BPV had to come out, I tested it and it is still smooth. It is the revised aluminium piston version. "Heloise" MY01 6spd 07/00 build |
I am about to finally install mine. Any tips?
Did you use standard screw-type clamps, or the OEM crimp style? It looks a little tight in there to fit anything but the OEM crimps.

Well, it wasn't that bad, 20 mins start to finish.......
Wonder what that run with the E46 would have been like WITHOUT a 1/2 in tear in that freakin' hose. :-)
