Default Replacing Valves

Does any one know how much it would cost to replace valves in the S4 engine, and to add a new timing belt? and is it really hard replacing them?, can an amateur do the job? Thanks a lot

It's easy. All you need is a phillips head and a chisel. Maybe a pinecone.

Default Its that easy to replace a valve...? Any way if it is that easy, where would you buy valves?

The reason why i'm asking is because i found an S4, but the owner ruined some of the valves within the car, because there was no timing belt...?

Default I was kidding.

If you've never done a cylinder head before, this isn't like changing oil. First off, you won't be able to buy valve guides from Audi for the 5V head and you'll run into other problems unless you've done this before.

Keep looking.

Default quick talk through to replace valves in an s4......

1-remove engine assembly.

2-disassemble engine, remove heads.

3-completely disassemble heads, inspect valve guides for damage, replace valves, valve seals, & any other damaged components. Or take heads to machinist to check & rebuild, around $3-400 each head.

4-reassemble engine with new parts. Head gaskets, head bolts, valve cover gaskets, cam tensioner seals, cam seals, timing belt, waterpump....etc......

5-install engine assembly back into car. re-assemble car completely. Fill fluids, bleed, topp off, re-check. perform 4 wheel alignment.

6-during steps 1-5, make sure no kids are around when you're swearing. Also, apply bandages to any cuts & scrapes that will happen.

Simple, eh? ;-P

You could be a pal though, and pass on the "deal" to someone who may be able to save the car. ;-)

Default It cost me $4500 to have it done professionally...

I had two bent valves on an engine with 2k on it. E-mail me if you want more info. You can also checkout my picture poster for pics.

replacing with a used engine would be on par in terms of price methinks.
