Default Reprogramming lock setting

My wife took the 2000 model in to the dealer and I told her she should get it reprogrammed for automatic lock. The dealer told her it would be $80. I know I have read in the past on this forum that it was free one time. The dealer told her the service was only available before the car was originally picked up. Also they refused to fix a key that had broken when trying to install a battery. Is this dealer acting correctly or should they perform these services under warranty?

Default Print out this PDF file and bring it to the dealer......

...although it's for an A4, they should honor it on your S4.<ul><li><a href="http://www.springbreakdaytonabeach.com/vwtech/www.vwwebsource.com/vwtechcontent/audipdf/a01-98-07.pdf">Central locking System, Function Options</a></li></ul>

Default my dealer also wants to charge $$

The dealer knows about the service bulletin, but says it's only relevant to the automatic door locking/unlocking.

All other codes are 'unsupported'. In other words, if I want to add automatic door locking, he is willing to do this once, free of charge. But he wants to charge me for one-click-unlocks-all-doors or windows-up/down-by-remote. Furthermore, he warned me that introducing 'unsupported' codes is on my own responsibility, and if I'm unhappy with the results, I'd be charged again to restore the default.

Default I paid $30 at my dealer for this on my A4.........

....back a few years ago when we just discovered this "feature". There was no TSB on it back then and they wanted to charge me 1 hour of labor (like $75) for the 10 minute job. I balked, and he lowered the price to $30, which I paid.

Now I just wait until I can hook up with someone that has the VAG-COM software (thank you Daphne and Greyhound Guy!)

Default Reprogram and Key should be free, I just had a key replaced last service on my A4

Depending on where you live someone on the board that is close and has a VAG tool can reprogram for you. If you are near Lancaster, PA I can do if for you.
