Rotor hitting on caliper? I'd see unmistakeable evidence of this, right?

Default Rotor hitting on caliper? I'd see unmistakeable evidence of this, right?

This would be on my AP 4-pots, which have been on my car for a year, but on which I put new rotors and pads on the last month. The inside bottom of the caliper is very close to the rotor, but I could not make it come in contact with it, and there are no clear signs of contact, but I am getting a rubbing metal noise sometimes (at low speeds when engine braking or maintaining speed) from what sounds like the front axle or right front wheel area. Could my rotor be expanding enough when warm/hot to rub like this and me not be able to notice when it's not hot? The rotor would have to expand nearly 1mm towards the inside of the car or 3mm in diameter to rub the caliper IMO.

It's more of a mid-frequency noise; kind of a cross in sound between a meeping and apes hooting.

Default Also, there is no shreiking or scratching; nothing high-pitched; doesn't do it when brakes applied..

...although they do squeal like a pig under light braking applications (Hawk HP+), and it is detectable when driving next to a reflective wall/guardrail that the pads are touching the rotor as it revolves.

Default Yeah its your pads or your rotors are warped/ not flush to the hubs

There may be dirt between the hub and the rotor

take em off and clean the hubs and the inside of the rotors and put them back on

Default Yes, and it would coincide with spoke rotation...

Bear in mind that a multipiece caliper will on average flex 2-3 mm laterally upon hard braking. the noice will also be accompanied by a vibration, in a lower frequency. You will also see visible evidence of contact on that caliper.

Default Hmmm. I just can't see any definitive contact marks on the rotor or the caliper...

...but it just doesn't seem like this noise could be anything else...everything else looks good down there.
