Default Rough idle on stock 2.7T....

Just replaced a faulty MAF sensor and expected that to fix the problem, but it didn't. What else might I look into?

Plugs, coilpacks, or amplifiers.

Ah, the story of my life re-emerges.... What's worse is when it's intermittent.

Default what does your car idle @? It could also be too low. Discussion

yesterday about ideal setting with VAG. I'd say start with VAG & plugs first then go from there.

It jumps around 500-800 rpm.

Default Do you have a VAG-COM? If so, look at blocks 015 and 016 to see which cylinders are misfiring...

There are quite a few 2.7T engines out there (mine included, dr_bob1, 2001_SilverS4, SilverB...to name a few) that have this annoying misfire problem. I've spent quite a bit of time trying to troubleshoot it (though I could be trying harder). I've had the dealer replace the following: MAF, plugs, coilpacks, injectors, and cylinder head. They decarbonized the system too. Nothing has worked.

I mostly get a cylinder 5 misfire but the others occcasionally register too. Adjusting the idle speed helps a little but, in my opinion, just masks the underlying problem.

I'm guessing that it's something simple that's causing the problem but I just can't find it.

Have you fixed the problem? What have you replaced? Are you M-box?

Default I have an old beta version. I'm not sure it will let me look

at that. I will try it out. If not, I will upgrade to the newer version. I've been meaning to do that anyway....

Thanks.
